In March 2025, Suhn Law Group bolstered its criminal law practice by welcoming former prosecutor HYUN, Seung hak to the team.

HYUN, Seung hak graduated from Sungkyunkwan University Law School and completed his legal training at the Ministry of Justice’s Immigration Policy Headquarters and the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office. He then served as a prosecutor for two years at the Jeju and Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Offices.

Notably, while at the Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Office, HYUN, Seung hak led the trials for two high-profile cases: the infamous “Nth Room” case and the real estate speculation case involving the Yanggu County Mayor. He also built deep expertise in sexual and digital sex crimes through in-depth legal analysis and meticulous evidence review, contributing significantly to the prosecution’s case. While handling voice phishing investigations, he dealt with the complexities of organized crime and developed broad practical experience across various criminal cases. His work on serious crimes—including murder, drug offenses, and sex crimes—demonstrated his ability to construct logical and precise legal arguments, leading to key convictions in court.

Following his prosecutorial career, HYUN, Seung hak served as a court-appointed public defender at the Seoul Southern District Court and as a victim-focused public attorney with the Korea Legal Aid Corporation. In these roles, he engaged closely with defendants, suspects, and victims, gaining comprehensive insight into all aspects of criminal procedure. With experience on both sides of the courtroom—as a “sword” as a prosecutor and as a “shield” representing defendants and victims—he is widely regarded as a true expert in the field of criminal law.

Building on this extensive background, HYUN, Seung hak is set to become a key member of Suhn Law Group’s criminal law team. With the growing number of sexual crime cases and the increasing importance of defense counsel in such matters, he plans to leverage his experience and insight to deliver the highest level of legal service to clients.
