Case Summary:

Suhn Law Group recently represented a client who had viewed and possessed illegally filmed videos and images obtained through social media, securing a conditional suspension of indictment subject to completion of an educational program.

Due to the ease of access to such materials, many young university students become suspects in digital sex crime cases simply by receiving and storing illegal content. In this case, the client was a student at a top-tier university who, due to a momentary lapse in judgment, received and stored such materials, placing himself at risk of acquiring a criminal record that could significantly affect future employment opportunities.

From the early stage of the investigation, Suhn Law Group Criminal Team (Lead Attorney: Sung Uk Bak) advised the client to fully admit the allegations and actively cooperate with the authorities. Despite the seriousness of the case—where dozens of suspects were involved and the individual responsible for distribution was detained—the defense secured a favorable response from the investigating officer.

After the case was referred to the prosecution, the firm emphasized that (1) the client had no prior criminal record, (2) the client did not distribute or share the materials with others, (3) the client showed genuine remorse with no risk of reoffending, and (4) the client had led a diligent life despite difficult personal circumstances, including being effectively without parental support, and had gained admission to a top university.
