The client had been subjected to persistent gaslighting by members of a voice phishing group posing as prosecutors, who coerced the client under the guise of “cooperating with an investigation.” Although there were circumstances suggesting involvement in the crime, the client was actually used as a tool by the criminal organization and was effectively a victim. Demonstrating this was challenging, as law enforcement across the country had summoned the client as a suspect.

The main task for the defense was to logically explain the client’s dual status as both a victim and an alleged participant to persuade investigators. To achieve this, Suhn Law Group first documented in detail how the client was deceived, and filed a formal complaint against the voice phishing organization. This allowed the identification of several perpetrators, reinforcing the client’s status as a victim.

This evidence clearly demonstrated that the client had been deceived by criminals impersonating prosecutors.
